Experience & approach
Since the birth of WantDrums.com in 2011, I’ve been fortunate to work on various musical projects for countless songwriters, bands and producers across the globe. From Country songs sent to me by producers in Nashville all the way through to Hindi pop songs – you name it, I’ve more than likely done it.
I’ve always strived to be as versatile as possible, from the sound of my kit to how I play, and most importantly, being a musician – not just a ‘drummer’. My approach has always been about serving the music and the song.
Quality over quantity
I’m incredibly passionate about recording custom drum tracks with a great groove and feel and not just churning through as many songs in one go as I can.
I never take on more work than I can handle. This can occasionally lead to slightly longer turnaround times during exceptionally busy periods, but trying to cram in sessions leads to lower quality work. While that might be an approach for some, my intent is quality above all else.
Studio gear
There are many elements to producing a killer drum recording, for example, the room the drums are recorded in, the preamps, converters, microphones, etc. They all play a critical role in achieving studio-quality drum tracks.
I'm proud to use some of the finest recording gear, such as Universal Audio and Audient preamps and converters, plus a generous selection of microphones, such as the highly-sought after Coles 4038 ribbon microphones (my favourite!).
After much experimentation, I've found this combination captures the clarity, depth, and full dynamic range of the drums, resulting in a rich and detailed sound.
